Venue accessibility
Dalhousie’s Student Union Building has a number of accessible features.
Physical accessibility
- Step-free access to the main building (outside ramp available)
- Exterior doors openable via electronic button control – suitable for mobility devices
Interior navigation
- Clear signage for all conference sessions/events
- Accessibility maps will be provided
- Step-free and elevator access within the building (ramp between split levels on the ground floor; wheelchair-accessible elevators between floors)
- A fully-accessible washroom on Floor 3

Parking
Parking at Dalhousie’s Studley Campus can be limited. Reserving a space in advance is highly recommended.
- You will need to purchase a short-term parking permit using the HotSpot app (contracted by the university; available on smartphones).
- Accessible parking spaces require their own permit – email support@htsp.ca for information on how to purchase one.

The closest parking lots to the Student Union Building are SUB (number 14 on the linked map) and Killam Circle (number 15 on the linked map).
There are 7 bookable parking spaces beside the Student Union building, and 24 bookable parking spaces at Killam Circle (beside the Mark A. Hill Accessibility Centre next to Killam Library).
Public transportation
ALL Halifax Transit buses are accessible, including the 320 Regional Express airport shuttle.
The closest bus stop to the Student Union Building is Lemarchant St Before University Ave.

Food catering and allergies
Where catering is provided, we are committed to accommodating a range of dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, halal, and allergy-friendly options, including gluten-free. All catered food offerings will be clearly labelled, indicating ingredients and which allergies/dietary requirements they accommodate.
Session accessibility
- Microphones for all speakers
- Automatic captioning for presentations
- Seating spaces will be provided suitable for wheelchairs and other mobility devices
- Print and digital versions of our program will be available
- Clear session schedules and locations will be provided in advance and available during the event
